Shortwood House in Detail

Shortwood House is a private retirement home that is family owned and run for 12 people who feel they are not safe or happy living in their own home and who wanted a level of care, support and company in a homely environment. Most of our residents come from the local area and many remain in touch with families, friends and the local community.

We place the rights of our residents at the forefront of our philosophy of care. We seek to advance these rights in all aspects of the environment and the services we provide and to encourage our residents to exercise their rights to the full. We at Shortwood House see ageing as a process, not a problem, a developmental period not a difficulty, a time for respect and dignity. Time at Shortwood House for both residents and staff is as a positive experience, as all are considered part of the extended family.
